This policy explains what 18287783 Canada Corporation ("Opportunity Dispatch", "we") collects when you use opportunitydispatch.com, why, and what you can do about it. We collect little, we do not sell it, and we do not show advertising.
1. What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your first and last name | To address you in emails and to identify your account when you write to us |
| Your email address | To sign you in, send your briefings and reply to you |
| Your country: the one you give us at sign-up, and the one worked out from your IP address | To follow the email and consumer rules of the country you are in |
| The stocks on your watchlist, and when you added them | To build and send your briefing |
| Your plan, billing status and account status | To apply your plan's limits |
| The version of the Terms of Use you accepted, and when | To keep a record of our agreement with you |
| Which briefings were sent to you, whether an email was opened, and which source links you clicked | To check delivery works and to learn which content is useful |
| Sign-in records: the time, your IP address and browser type | To keep accounts secure and limit abuse |
| A sign-in cookie | To keep you signed in. Cloudflare may also set a security cookie to protect the site. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies |
| How you first reached us (for example, a link's campaign tag) | To understand which channels bring members |
| Anything you send us, such as error reports and emails to support | To answer you and improve the service |
| Payment details | Handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number |
If you ask for a sample briefing without creating an account, we collect your email address and country, and the sign-up check described in section 3.
2. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not share your watchlist with anyone.
- We do not send your name, your email address or your watchlist to the AI systems that write the briefings. Briefings are written once per company and are the same for every member who follows it.
3. Who processes information for us
We use a small number of service providers, who may only use your information to provide their service to us:
| Provider | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalOcean | Hosts the website and database | Toronto, Canada |
| Cloudflare | Protects and speeds up the website, and checks that sign-ups come from people and not automated programs | Global network |
| Brevo | Sends our emails and reports opens and bounces | European Union |
| Zoho Mail | Our support mailbox | [Zoho region] |
| Stripe | Takes payments | United States |
| Sentry | Reports software errors to us, which can include your IP address and account identifier | United States |
Some of these providers process information outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that country.
4. Emails we send
- Your briefings: the evening briefing each weekday, and any other briefings your plan includes, such as the Sunday investor day briefing, while your account is active. Every briefing has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Service messages, such as sign-in links, receipts, and notices about your account or these policies.
- A sample briefing, if you ask for one on our website, sent to the address you give.
- Occasional news about Opportunity Dispatch, if you asked for a sample or have an account. We expect to send only a few a year, and each has an unsubscribe link. We do not send these to people we record as being in Canada.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we erase your name, email address, watchlist and delivery history from our own systems within minutes, as set out below, and from our email provider and our backups within 30 days, except where we must keep a record by law (for example, payment records). Security logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted. Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule. If you asked for a sample and do not have an account, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Deleting your account. You delete your account from your account page, by typing your email address to confirm.
- At once: your account is paused, so no more briefings are sent. You are signed out everywhere and cannot sign back in, even with a sign-in link you requested earlier.
- Within about 10 minutes: your account is erased. If you ask between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Eastern on a weekday, while the evening briefing is being sent, the erasure happens shortly after.
- When it is done: you receive one email confirming the deletion.
Deletion cannot be undone. If you come back, you start a new account. Deleting your account does not by itself refund a payment; see the Terms of Use.
6. Your choices and rights
You can, at any time:
- see and change your watchlist when you are signed in;
- stop a briefing with the unsubscribe link in it;
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it, including your name and country;
- delete your account and your information.
You delete your account from your account page (section 5). For a copy or a correction, write to [email protected] from the address on your account and we will act within 30 days. If you are in Canada and are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
7. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Sign-in links and sessions are stored only in a protected form, and access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
8. Children
The service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or on the website before the change takes effect.
